As the BWF training camp in Saarbrucken, Germany comes to an end at the completion of another Olympic campaign the coaches and staff can boast the almost unbelieveable statistic of getting 18 of their students to the Olympic Games in Beijing. The students of the camp are in no doubt that this feat was primarily down to quality and dedication of the coaches at the camp. As they now all go their separate ways – with 18 of them heading to Beijing – the graduates, – voiced by Larisa Griga, Kristina Ludikova and Olga Konon, wanted to express everyone’s feelings of thanks and gratitude to the people who made it happen for them : their coaches.

It’s finally time to say good bye to the BWF training centre in Saarbrucken after 2 years. During this time, it was a wonderful experience to live with players from all over the world- to discover new cultures and make new friends. Needless to say it was tough training, much fun and an invaluable journey for all us players.
We would like to express our gratitude towards our coaches – Ge Cheng, Per Henrik Croona and Kim Ji Hyun – who played vital roles in turning our dreams into a reality. They were constantly there for us 24 hours a day, supporting us and sacrificing so much to see us qualify for the 2008 Beijing . A total of 18 players from project “Road to Beijing” have qualified.

Our sincere thanks to our head , Ge Cheng (China), who taught us to train the “bloody Chinese” way. His distinctive skills and sense of humour which personally touched every player ensured that training sessions were more physically bearable and enjoyable. Additionally, he was the best cook in our private kitchen. For so much more than has been mentioned here, Ge Cheng, you are special to us and will remain in our hearts forever.

Thank you to our beautiful coach – Kim Chi Power – Ji Hyun Kim (Korea) – Marr – whose spirit and energy is truly amazing. No matter the time – 7am Monday morning or 7pm Sunday night – she constantly strived to push us further. Always there to assist us, both on the court and off when necessary, Ji Hyun, you are a fantastic coach and a great friend. We will always remember you.

We extend our immense gratitude to Per Henrik Croona (Sweden) – our tough, yet fair, coach who continuously challenged us. We will never forget his outstanding training programs, outside activities, hill sprints and various other fun games which never failed to become competitive. He fully dedicated himself to the players and was willing to listen to and understand our problems. Per Henrik, you are a wonderful person who truly cares about each individual player.

We are all so grateful for everything you have done for us and would not have come this far without each of you. Finally, thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us, and may we continue to share the final chapters of this Olympic dream with each of you.

Thank you.
