Jan O Jorgensen will have to withdraw from the upcoming . After his team mates Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and the duo Mathias Boe / Carsten Mogensen were sick right after the World Championships and spent some time in the hospital, the world #3 announced yesterday on his Facebook page that he would not be able to compete in the .

“Almost since I got home from the World Championships I have been sick and struggling with a really hardcore stomach infection. I have not been able to train properly at all, as I have lost weight and don’t have any energy – I’m still not feeling well and I’m really sad to miss one of my favourite tournaments on the tour – Japan Open. I have been running a lot of tests but we still don’t know what is wrong. It’s frustrating that this has been going on for more than two weeks. I will try my very best to recover fast, but the time is against me as the next tournament is in 2 weeks,” he said.

The managers’ meeting expected today should provide with more information whether other Danes have withdrawn as well. France’s Brice Leverdez, 1st seed in the qualification list, should enjoy a free ride to the main draw.
