Guangzhou Yueyu Badminton Club might not get imported players after all, due to several reasons from players and sponsors.

It was reported on the 8th of January in the Beijing Youth Daily, just two weeks into 2011 and one month before the start of , that players like Taufik Hidayat and Lee Chong Wei might not be able to play for Guangzhou Team after all. Taufik has been plagued by injury since last year’s Asian Games and Lee Chong Wei had left open the possibility that he could follow Misbun Sidek’s resignation and leave BAM. Due to unexpected possible withdrawal from these foreign players, sponsors are limiting their sponsoring amount.  What was previously reported to be more then 5 million yuan was drastically reduced since the Guangzhou Yueyu Badminton Club cannot confirm that these players will be playing for the upcoming league in February.
