The Russian team of Primorye Vladivostok and its line-up of stars, led by giant Vladimir Ivanov, kept their title in the European – badminton’s “champions league” on Saturday in Amiens, France. They beat the hosts and French Champions Chambly 4-1 in the final to retain the trophy they had won last year in Beauvais – a few kilometres away. Only Kirsty Gilmour  of Scotland was able to score a point for Chambly while Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov scored two points each to put their team in the lead, with Nina Vislova, Zhang Yeqi and Valeria Sorokina ending the French team’s dream of clinching gold at home.

Aix en Provence Badminton Club, also from France, and TJ Sokol Vesely Jehnice from Czech Republic won the bronze medals.
