Kim Joong Soo back as Korean Head Coach

Former Korean National Badminton Team Head Kim Joong Soo has been re-appointed to his former position on an interim basis following the firing of Sung Han Kook in the aftermath of the scandal at the London (see here).   Kim was the Head for ten years, from 2001-2010 and under his watch, the team delivered one Sudirman Cup title, one Uber Cup title, along with numerous medals of every colour at two Olympic Games and three Asian Games.  He also presided over three intentional team tie losses in the 2008 Thomas Cup competition, a move that prompted the Badminton World Federation to alter the rules for team competition drawing.

Since leaving his coaching duties, Kim has been serving on four different committees for the and was a sitting member of both the Disciplinary Committee and the Executive Council, which decided on the termination of two coaches and the suspension of four players in connnection with the Olympic scandal.  He is to head the National Team until January of next year, at which time a permanent replacement is to be named.
