Congratulations!! Datuk has finally decided to tie the knot. This is good news to all your fans around the badminton world, especially the Malaysian fans. They have been looking forward to this big day of yours. It came finally and we rejoiced with you and your families the greatest moment of your life. I saw it live on my computer on 9.11.12 and 19.11.12. The KLCC was transferred into a “wonder land.” With the Hong Kong and local stars, the entertainment is first class. Coupled with the attendance of local badminton players and China’s chief coach Li Yingbo, Bao Chun Lai and Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat, a highly charged atmosphere around the KLCC was generated. The sound of joy and laughter filled the air, much to the envy of those glued to the computer to watch a program that would unlikely to be unsurpassed at any time soon.
In the new era of the world of badminton, perhaps the greatest players of all times, after getting married can share some of the titles and can be divided this way:
THE WORLD NO. 1 COUPLE (FIRST COUPLE)
This accolade should be landed on court of Datuk Lee Chong Wei and his beautiful wife. They richly deserved this and should not be disputed, after all Datuk is currently world no. 1. Isn’t he? It is now 199 weeks as No. 1 as announced on the wedding night and still counting. Keep it up our national super hero!!
WORLD CHAMPION COUPLE (CONDOR HEROES)
This title should go to who else but Mr. and Mrs. Lin Dan. Lin Dan is four-time world champion and currently still is. His wife was also a twice world champion. Hope all of you will agree with this. For the benefit of those who do not know what CONDOR HEROES is all about. It is a very famous novel written by Mr Louis Chia. Briefly it is story of love, patriotism, superb fighting skills, etc. The most touching part is the hero has to wait for sixteen years (incidentally five years more than our Datuk), before they finally met again and live happily ever after – a fairy tale love story. Mr. Louis Chia should be considered for a Nobel Prize for literature just like Mr. Mo Yan of China.
Talking about Nobel Prize, perhaps, Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Mr. Lin Dad should also be considered the co-winners for Nobel Peace Prize. Both of them in my opinion deserve the prize. They have each spent more than twenty years of hard work to attain their best to entertain all the fans around the world. Two encounters at the Olympics and countless tournaments around the world speak volumes of their superb skill. At the intensities of the games human hatred and word WAR just disappears from this earth. There are many good deeds done by them both at home and abroad. The Norwegian Nobel Committee should consider this. To support this cause perhaps, all badminton lovers should vote for this. Perhaps, this may be the first time that sportsmen are awarded this prize and why not?
OLPMPIC CHAMPION COUPLE (THE GOLDEN COUPLE)
This honour should be bestowed to the Indonesian legendary badminton players of Alan Bubikusuma and his wife Susi Susanti. They both won the gold medal at Barcelona in 1992 in the men’s and women’s singles.
It is interesting to have a peep into the future of the world of badminton.
Perhaps, with the children of the Olympic couple raring to go, the other two couples have to do some catch up to produce their offspring to compete among themselves in say about 16 years’ time. In the arena of the badminton, the much anticipated meetings of the greatest of all times will emerge. This is definitely a feast for the eyes to the badminton fans around the world!!! We are all waiting eagerly form the coming of these days.
