The first day of the Brazil Open featured the potential new system. 15 matches were played for the qualification round with the best of 5 games to 11 points. The shortest match was 13 minutes and the longest 31 minutes – a clear change from a regular tournament with the current system. The average length of matches was about 20 minutes.
