Germany’s Marc Zwiebler announced today on his Facebook page, that he will be retiring from international badminton following the 2017 BWF in Glasgow.

The 2012 European Champion set as a goal finishing off his Master of Arts in General Management, along with joining an HR-recruitment business consultancy.  Zwiebler is currently gearing up for this year’s European Badminton Championships, which kick off on Tuesday in Kolding, Denmark, and he said that he will also be playing in the Sudirman Cup, where Germany was recently promoted to the top tier after England withdrew.

After that, the German, who has been ranked as high as #10 in the world, will participate in the Thailand Open and the Indonesia Open, which is one of the two Superseries events where he has reached the final.   After Glasgow, Zwiebler says he will still stay involved in badminton, playing in the German league, possibly some international leagues, and in attempting to get elected to the BWF Athletes’ Commission, where he is one of six male players running for a maximum of two seats.

All of us at Badzine wish Marc all the best in his future career or careers.
