Women’s singles top seed Tai Tzu Ying (pictured above) pressed her opponent He Bingjiao from the very beginning of their match.  Although Tai led from the beginning, He Bingjiao stayed in pursuit, but late in the game she continually had trouble keeping her shots in and Tai seized the opportunity to get points, finishing the first game in just 11 minutes.

Leading throughout the second game, Tai was full of confidence.   The last shot fell long and finally Tai had finished it 21-18.

He Bingjiao (pictured right) admitted the women’s singles world #1 was hard to beat: “I made a lot of unforced errors in this match. The wind was also bad for my side, and I unfortunately could not control it,” said He, who will still be one of China’s women’s singles hopefuls here for the 2018 Asian Games.

Chen Yufei – a hard opponent to beat for Tai

Having secured her ticket to the final after beating Sung Ji Hyun from Korea in 23-21, 18-21, and 23-21, Chen Yufei (pictured left) will meet Tai in the final on Sunday.  This women’s singles match will be the ninth meeting for the two players.

“I watched the match of Sung and Chen before I played,” explained Tai after her match.  “They played very well.  It must have been a very energy-consuming match because both of them were very good and played well and it was also tight match too.”

Tai said that she knew that Chen is a strong player and difficult to beat. Even though she has a dominant-looking 8-0 record against Chen Yufei, she will also need to be fully prepared for the final match.

“I think everyone has chance to win the match.  I am just concerned with preparing myself avoiding unforced errors for tomorrow,” said Tai.
