The World Badminton Championships actually being held in Taiwan (Sept 7th – 12th) saw the usual powerhouses qualify for the semi-finals of the team events. China has sent some of their national players such as Li Xuerui, Zheng Bo and Ma Jin, who, after their world crown in Paris, flew directly to Taiwan.

After a group tie where China and Indonesia came through, the Chinese beat England to qualify for the semis, while Indonesia was beaten by Korea (who is featuring such national team players as Jang Ye Na and Shon Wan Ho).  Hosts Taiwan could also scoop the title with Cheng Shao Chieh involved in the team.

Here are the semi-final line up :

Taiwan vs. Korea
China vs. Thailand

The mixed team event is a tie of 5 matches, one per category.
