After Koo Kien Keat and Lee Yong Dae, another badminton player will have the honour of carrying their national flag for the : Reiko Shiota, who is now Japan’s best bet in the mixed doubles event with Shintaro Ikeda, will bear the standard during the Opening Ceremony.

“It’s both an honour and a heavy responsibility to carry,” Shiota said of her role to Mainichi Daily News.

Japan, which hosted the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, will send its largest delegation ever — 1,078 athletes and officials — to Asia’s version of the Olympics, according to the JOC.
