After 3 days of play, the favourites made it through to the quarter-finals, with all top seeds having a clear path while second favourites of each groups also qualified in the expected order. The real battle can now begin in Delhi.

All heroes were out to play the last robin matches on Thursday, and the outcome was, as expected rather quick and logical. Malaysia, India, Singapore and England all had smooth rides to top their groups against the teams which were, on paper, the ones supposed to be the most challenging for the group stage.

Lee Chong Wei (photo) and Malaysia whitewashed Australia 5-0 to claim the first spot of Group A.  India, England and Singapore also won their matches and advanced as top seeds to the next stage, avoiding a meeting with each other.  India and England were the only seeded teams that dropped one match in group play, to Canada and Scotland respectively.

Below is the line-up for Friday’s quarter-finals (not thanks to the official website, which, is, day after day, a disgrace).

Quarter-finals:

Malaysia vs. New Zealand
India vs. Canada
England vs. Scotland
Singapore vs. Australia
