The Netherlands may find it more difficult than usual to make it to the podium in the upcoming European Mixed Team Championships from February 15 to 20th as none other than their 4 top singles players will not be selected for the national squad. Eric Pang, Judith Meulendijks, Yao Jie and Dicky Palyama will not be seen in Amsterdam for their home event.

The Dutch National Association recently secured a deal with a badminton brand which conflicts with those players’ prior contracts. The issue is currently being dealt with in court but it is the sport’s loss that the four shuttlers will not participate in the event where a medal was clearly in sight for the hosts.
