Some of the favourites of the ongoing Denmark will not participate in the even held in Randers this week-end as injury is striking. Top seeds in the mixed and men’s doubles have withdrawn – Matthias Boe / Carsten Mogensen and Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter-Juhl. Laybourn’s knee isn’t fit enough as he explained on his Facebook page : “My knee still is to weak to play on tournament level, it is SO frustrating and i can´t believe it takes this long to get back on track. This week yet a tournament withdraw from the Danish Champs, i had hoped to be ready for this event, it is always fun and motivating to play at home, and the chase for another title, but i will come back next year to win”. The mixed double will also see a new name standing as the other main favourites – Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen won’t enjoy the withdraw of the top seeds – Fischer’s knee will prevent him from playing as well.

Other big names will be missing as well in some other categories. Jan O Jorgensen was expected to make it to the final again but his toe problem hasn’t been solved yet and he’ll be away from the tournament, which may see Peter Gade face the rising star Viktor Axelsen in the final as both jewels are on either side of the draw.

Tine Baun, on her hand, will be in Randers to keep her title.
