Some were expecting the young japanese to lead the same path as last year where he reached the final and almost knocked out the world number one Lee Chong Wei, but the experienced dane, Peter Gade, was not completely inclined in letting him do so this year.

After a terrible first game where the veteran player spread all his techniques and finished off the set with a perfect smash onto the body, illustrating his supremacy through the game, last year runner up fired up his game and clearly exhibiting his desire to go through the second round. The youngsters, brought to fame in own country Japan, after his final last year at the was seen battling hard to get the point, fisting up, something he seldom on court, appearing very concentrated and calm usually. A fighting spirit that seemed to work pretty well, gaining four game points at 20-16, producing fantastic rallies, but Peter Gade proved he managed to get a step higher 12 years ago and since then became one of the most robust pillar in the field.

The experienced player played the perfect game to come back level, playing Tago’s backhand most of the time, not allowing him to set out any attack. Peter was especially delighted with his win today

He’s been here last year in the final so beating in two sets is pretty good, even when I was down 16-20, I managed to step up my game, pressure him and earning points by points, I have a lot of respect of Tago he is one of the stars of tomorrow he has a great amount of talent but he made many mistakes in the first game he needs to work on his variation of the game.”

An obviously disappointed coach, Keita Masuda didn’t understand why his protégé suddenly slow down the game “He was very fast first, then at 20-16, I don’t know he slowed down the game, he should have taken the second game, he let Peter Gade attack to much.”

Peter Gade will have to meet 5th seed Chen Long is the quarter-final who was fortunate to get a day off, after the young Thai player Tanongsak pulled out of the tournament after a lower back injury.
