According to Cuba News Agency (CNA), US badminton players were denied authorization to enter the upcoming Cuba International Badminton Championships, to be held in Havana, from March 25th to 27th.

Badminton official from Cuba Miguel Diaz said more than 80 badminton players from Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname and Cuba have confirmed their participation in the tournament to take place at the Kid Chocolate sports center but the Americans would not make the trip.

According to CNA “This is not the first time sports exchange between the two countries is hindered by the US policy against Cuba. Every year fewer Americans are able to participate in Cuban sports events”

The tournament will distribute 1,700 ranking points among winners of the Single (men and women), Double (m and w) and Mixed events.
