Misbun Sidek turned down the offer from the (BAM) to take the lead on the back-up players and will not return as a national but didn’t give any reason to BAM, according the the daily newspaper The Star. The Malaysian coach had handed his resignation on December 31st and had given no news for three months before the Malaysian association decided to offer him a new job – not by Lee Chong Wei’s side – but to try to find a “new” Chong Wei amongst the young generation.

Malaysia’s Youth and sports minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek reacted to Misbun’s decision: “If Misbun chose not to accept the offer, I need to know the details and need it soon,” he told Bernama news agency.

“I was made to understand that Misbun’s task will be to produce many more Lee Chong Wei’s for the future and I feel it is a fair request.”
