Team selection news for this month’s continue to trickle in and among the latest is China’s, where the expected absence of four reigning World Champions has been confirmed.

Mixed doubles champion Zheng Bo has not competed internationally for China since Paris last August but 3 more current national team members have been sidelined because of injury.  Chen Jin has come off consecutive defeats at the hands of Sho Sasaki, of Group A opponents Japan, while Du Jing has also been struggling and her comparatively unsuccessful women’s doubles partnership with Ma Jin will not be needed.

Women’s singles champion Wang Lin is coming back from her knee injury, sustained at last fall’s China Masters, but her promising results at the recent Australian Open and Malaysia Grand Prix Gold were not enough to push her past her many, mighty team-mates.

The complete China team is as follows:
MS: Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai, Chen Long
WS: Wang Shixian, Wang Xin, Wang Yihan
MD: Cai Yun / Fu Haifeng, Chai Biao / Guo Zhendong
WD: Wang Xiaoli / Yu Yang, Zhao Yunlei / Tian Qing, Cheng Shu / Pan Pan
XD: Zhang Nan / Zhao Yunlei, Tao Jiaming / Tian Qing, Xu Chen / Ma Jin
