The Badminton World Federation (BWF)’s new Youtube station Badminton World.tv has scheduled live streamed coverage for the 2011 Yonex beginning right from the Round of 64 matches.  The tournament begins on Monday, August 8th and runs until August 14th.

This plan is the latest development in a constantly expanding array of broadcast options for badminton.  Last year, the BWF’s media partner Total Sports Asia began by providing high-quality streaming of major events to Asian viewers and continued by providing worldwide streaming of Super Series events in early 2011.  After the unfortunate limiting of Sudirman Cup coverage to local broadcasts, the floodgates opened in June with the launch of the BWF’s own Youtube channel, which has provided unprecedented amounts of fully-commentated Internet broadcasts to badminton fans worldwide at no cost.
