The Commonwealth Youth Games kick off on Friday for three days of competition on the Isle of Man, between Ireland and England, with an individual event in all five categories. Malaysians and Indians are the favourites with some young British players able to shine as well.

Zulkiffli of Malaysia, recent winner of the Asian Championships, leads the charge in the boys’ singles event with an expected final clash against Verma of India. Kristy Gilmour of Scotland, Sonia Cheah of Malaysia and P.V. Sindhu of India are favourites to share the honours in the girls’ singles event.
