Former All-England doubles badminton champion Datuk David Choong Ewe Leong passed away at the age of 82 in his town of Tanjong Tokong. David and his younger brother Eddy Choong, clinched the All-England men’s doubles titles three consecutive years, from 1951 to 1953. The latter was honoured in BWF’s Hall of fame with a prize “the Eddy Chong Award” given each year to one of the best players in the circuit.

“We were extremely close since he was my partner in badminton and we trained together. We were also in England together for 10 years,” said Eddy Choong about his brother to Bernama.
