The storied KB Hallen, one of the most prestigious sports halls in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen has been partially destroyed by fire this Wednesday just hours before a sex trade show was about to begin.

It has been a very violent fire,” said Lars Rosenwanger, spokesman for the firefighters to Associated Press. “Everything inside the arena had been destroyed by the blaze. All that’s left is the concrete construction.

The arena had seen some of badminton’s greatest events in the Danish capital, such as the Danish league finals on top of former major badminton international events. This could be a major blow to Danish bid for the World Championships in 2013 or 2014 if this hall was set to be the home of the event.
