Lin Dan was given the Laureus Award of Best male Athlete of the year 2011 by the Chinese Media on October 11th in Ningbo, China. The Chinese shuttler – who was not there to receive his award, beat to it all other big names such as Basketball star Yao Ming or Hurdler Liu Xiang. The latter did get the Most Popular Sportsman of the year. Tennis Woman Li Na was the expected winner in the Female Category after her success in the French Open this year.
