An held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam saw some unusual participants. In addition to Peter Gade and Vietnam’s top shuttler Nguyen Tien Minh, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark kicked off the evening by playing with the two stars, together with Vietnam’s former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai , who is also the honorary chairman of the Vietnam Badminton Federation.

Before that, Poul-Erik Høyer, former Olympic champion from Denmark had also played a match against a former Vietnamese player. The match between Gade and Tien Minh ravished the 1,000-strong crowd of the Phan Dinh Phung Sport Center on Wednesday.

The exhibition was among the cultural programs organized in connection with Prince Frederik’s visit from November 28 to December 1 to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Denmark.
