Organizers of the Yonex Australian Badminton Open Gold have issued a sneak preview of the early player entries.  As predicted at the time of the event launch, top Indonesian stars Taufik Hidayat and Markis Kido / Hendra Setiawan will be heading south for the last Grand Prix tournament of the Olympic qualifying period.  Kido and Setiawan are currently just over 100 points out of the 8th spot they need to qualify for London (see the latest Badzine Olympic dummy lists).

Japan and Thailand have also sent in the names of some of their top stars.  For Thailand, it is mixed pair Sudket Prapakamol / Saralee Thoungthongkam and women’s singles sensation Ratchanok Intanon.  Japan will be strong in the women’s events with three of their strongest doubles pairs as well as top singles players Eriko Hirose and Sayaka Sato.  Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying in mixed will ensure that Malaysia has at least two pairs of its best feet forward.
