World #1 men’s doubles shuttler Lee Yong Dae is one of three Olympians entered in next month’s World Badminton Championships.  The event, which will be held in Gwangju, very near the Korean star’s hometown, kicks off on November 6th.  Lee has been enrolled since last year at Gyeonggi , a school without a badminton team.

Also entered in the event are Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying and Pablo Abian of Spain.  China’s team is looking strong, with former Asian Junior Champions Tian Houwei and Sun Yu, as well as former world #1 Cheng Shu.

Korea is without all of its medal winners from last year’s Universiade, including the still-eligible Eom Hye Won, but the Chinese Taipei contingent will include Pai Hsiao Ma, double silver medallist in Shenzhen last summer.  Thailand, which also won two golds at those Games, is not sending a team to the Gwangju event, which is sandwiched in the mere two-week break between the 10th and 11th legs of the OSIM BWF World Superseries.
