Misfortune has struck Wang Lin yet again, a third time on the same knee which she first injured seriously at the 2010 China Masters.  This time, she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during her match at the Chinese National Team Championship 2012.  According to her latest statement posted on her microblog, “Badminton, I think it is best that the ‘two of us’ listen to fate and go with the flow”.   It seems likely that she has resigned to the fact that she will not be able to continue playing for the national team in the current state.

She also claimed to be in good mental state as she has managed to struggle with this for two years. It is the same which devastated Wang Lin’s chances of competing in the Olympics and keeping her out of the top ranking spot, relegating her to lower-graded tournaments to gain ranking points. She will be on her way to Germany for another knee operation and she is accompanied by her parents and an unidentified team-mate. Is this the signal to the end of Wang Lin’s career as a badminton player?  We at Badzine wish her all the best  for a speedy recovery.
