Players participating in the upcoming German and All England Opens will, in addition to playing, be voting for three new player representatives to the Athletes’ Commission, an organ within the structure of the Badminton World Federation ().

The candidates are Imogen Bankier of Scotland, Koo Kien Keat of Malaysia, current Commission Chair Kaveh Mehrabi of Iran, Greysia Polii of Indonesia, Tan Yuhan of Belgium, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark, and Wang Xin and Cai Yun of China.  The three representatives selected will be the top woman and the top man in the voting and then then next highest in the voting, woman or man.

Existing members of the Commission are Lee Yong Dae  of Korea, Vice Chair Emma Mason of Scotland, and Rodrigo Pacheco of Peru, as well as ex-officio member, Pedro Yang of Guatemala.
