The 3rd edition of the Djarum Indonesia Badminton is set to kick off later this month.  This year, the league matches will be played in Denpasar, Bali.  This will be the biggest badminton event to be held in Bali since the Indonesia Open was played there back in 1999.

The teams were announced this week and despite the first two months of the badminton calendar being free of major tournaments for the first time in recent memory, the level of participation is way down for the 2015 edition.  From five men’s teams and six women’s teams visiting from neighbouring countries in 2014, this year’s numbers are down to three in the men’s competition and four in the women’s.  Conspicuous by their absence are Unisys Japan, which placed a runner-up team in the women’s event last year while the men’s team reached the semi-finals.  Unisys was one of four organizations that sent both a men’s and women’s team in 2014, the others being SCG Thailand, Singapore, and Cooperative Bank Chinese Taipei.

For 2015, joining defending men’s champions PB Musica are Tonami, returning after a one-year hiatus, and Hitachi from Japan.  Rounding out the visiting contingent is the Granular Academy in Thailand, which is the only foreign team this year that is sending both a men’s and women’s team.  In the women’s competition, 2014 semi-finalist Renasas is back, along with the Gifu Tricky Panders and a new entry from Japan, Hokuto Bank.

The full list of entries are as follows:

Men’s competition
Musica Champion Kudus, Djarum Kudus, Jaya Raya Jakarta, Mutiara Cardinal Bandung, Suryanaga Surabaya, Hi-Qua Wima Surabaya, USM Blibli, Tonami (Japan), Hitachi (Japan), Granular (Thailand)

Women’s competition
Jaya Raya Jakarta, Djarum Kudus, Mutiara Cardinal Bandung, Suryanaga Surabaya, USM Blibli, Jaya Raya New Star, Renesas (Japan), Gifu Tricky Panders (Japan), Hokuto Bank (Japan), Granular (Thailand)
