Yet another sign that Thailand is one of the nations to count on came when the Sydney saw one shuttler and a pair scooping gold on Saturday. First, 17-year-old women’s singles champion Pornpawee Chochuwong had to go the extra mile to beat Turkish jewel Ozge Bayrak, 21-19 in the decider. And earlier in the day, Kititharakul and Prajongjai had won the women’s doubles title at the expense of Mapasa/Somerville.

Nguyen Tien Minh seems to be back on track after a good tournament.  The Vietnam shuttler beat Zulkiffli 21-11, 21-12 while Singh/Tan from Malaysia won in men’s doubles and Middleton/Choo helped local players get their own home title.
