Thailand will be eyeing gold medals in both team events of the ongoing . Some surprises occurred yesterday in the badminton event which is currently ongoing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. In the women’s team event, Indonesians were beaten by the Malaysians 1-3 after a surprising win from teenager Ho Yen Mei, who took a crucial point for her team while the two doubles delivered against a young Indonesian team. Polii/Maheswari are not in Singapore. The Malaysians will meet the favourites Thailand, who trashed locals Singapore 3-0 in the other semi-final.

In the men’s team event’s semi-final, Lee Chong Wei and Chong Wei Feng had delivered against Indonesia’s Kholik and Christie respectively, but that was to be all for Malaysia as the Indonesians managed to get the remaining three points, including the third men’s singles when Mustofa beat Mohd Arif Abdul Latif in straight games. Thailand beat Singapore 3-2 in the other semi-final.
