The Badminton Korea Association (BKA) has handed down a final decision on the fate of the four players disqualified from the women’s doubles competition at the London Olympics. The BKA’s Executive Council ruled today on the fate of players Kim Min Jung, Ha Jung Eun, Kim Ha Na, and Jung Kyung Eun and on that of Head Coach Sung Han Kook and women’s doubles coach Kim Moon Soo.
The four players, who had been threatened with a two-year suspension, have had their punishment commuted to a one-year suspension from the National Team and six-month bans from any domestic or international competition.
Meanwhile, coaches Sung and Kim have been hit with a 4-year suspension from coaching the National Team, a significant change from the lifetime ban on coaching even domestic professional teams that was originally levied by the BKA’s Disciplinary Committee (see here).

However harsh it may seem it sends a strong message to the world that at least Korea is not going to tolerate cheating…
that because Korea is or was the biggest cheater
- example, 2008 korea open MS final, gross bad line call caused the famous china vs korea scuffle
- and this silly call at a korea open as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCdUgLuRTF8
Without a doubt we need replay or eagle eye for lines same as tennis
Cooler needs to chill.
Don’t blame the players blame the game.
People that watched the sport for long enough all know Korea isn’t the only nation that plays along with these illegal home advantages. Badminton is slowly changing into a sport where such behavior isn’t rewarded. Players such as Boe Morgensen as expressed concerns about how the players are getting the blame for loop holes bwf left in the gameplay framework.
