After the news broke last week that 2007 champions and 6th seeds Markis Kido / Hendra Setiawan would not participate in the 2011 Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships in London this coming week because of Kido having contracted typhoid, withdrawals will also strike the women’s doubles.  Fifth-seeded Ha Jung Eun and Kim Min Jung will be staying in Korea, as Kim’s hip injury, which forced her to withdraw from both mixed and women’s doubles before even beginning last month’s Canada Open, still had not sufficiently healed.  Korea is thus left with no representatives in either women’s or mixed doubles.  In both disciplines, multiple pairs had originally qualified under BWF guidelines but as partnerships had since changed, the Korean team leadership passed on the spots to other teams.
