According to a local correspondant, Jacques Owono, the General Assembly of the African Badminton Confederation voted a vote of no confidence over the President Larry Keys, of South Africa. The latter later gave his resignation. He is replaced temporarely by Nigeria’s Kabir Badamasuiy until a new vote can take place. The General Assembly was taking place during the African stage of the Thomas and Uber Cup, where the finals for the qualification spots are being played. Mauritius and Nigeria play for the Thomas Cup spot while South Africa and Egypt fight for the Uber Cup qualifying spot.
