Lee Chong Wei will not be participating in the upcoming Badminton Asia Championships in Delhi, next month. The world number one and recent Yonex All England Champion decided to skip the annual event to concentrate on his preparation for the Thomas Cup.
More than 300 players from 20 Asian countries will take part in the $150,000 prize money competition for both men and women, also a test event for the Commonwealth Games to be staged in the Indian capital later this year. Women’s world champion Lu Lan of China has confirmed her participation, Badminton Association of India president V.K. Verma said. Lin Dan and Taufik Hidayat are also supposed to be taking part in the competition.
