News is only beginning to filter out of the results of the 2010 Ciputra Hanoi International. Challenge.  Once again, fans have been left guessing as organizers stopped posting results completely after getting Day 3 scores up nearly a full day late.  The tournament was marked by some early upsets as headline pair, Swiss Open runners-up Shin Baek Cheol / Yoo Hyun Young of Korea, were ousted in the first round.  Although Shin was able to bounce back in the men’s doubles and upset the top seeds en route to the final, it was Malaysia’s Goh Wei Shem / Teo Kok Siang who scraped through with the title, beating Shin and Kim Ki Jung 20-22, 21-17, 21-19 in the final.

Korea’s ladies fared better on finals day, however, as longtime partners Yoo Hyun Young and Jung Kyung Eun, semi-finalists at the first two Super Series events this year, took their first ever title outside of Korea.  Singapore’s Gu Juan beat Osaka International champion Wang Rong en route to the final, but there she ran into Lee Hyun Jin, who was to win her first international title since the 2004 German Junior Open!

Like Yoo, Hendri Kurniawan Saputra bounced back from early defeat in the category where he was top seed.  Hendri and brother Hendra were defeated in the men’s doubles quarter-finals but the former managed to snatch the mixed doubles title, playing with Vanessa Neo.  Meanwhile, Hsueh Hsuan Yi’s finals appearance was the only one in the tournament by a first or second seed and the Chinese Taipei player took the title from Japan’s Koichi Saeki.
