A few years after Gail Emms, another badminton player was awarded with one of England’s highest disctinctions – the status of MBE and an invitation to receive it from the Queen.  For Donna Kellogg, former European Champion, it was clearly a surprise: “I got a letter in the post about a month ago. It was an unusual shape and I didn’t know what it was. My first thought was it might be jury service and I thought ‘oh no, I don’t have time!’  Then I read it and it took a few times before I could understand it and realised I was getting an MBE,” she told BBC.
