The Badminton World Federation released the draws this week for the 2010 Li Ning Super Series.  Even with a seriously under-strength Chinese contingent, the even promises top-notch action right from the first round as Dicky Palyama and Jan Jorgensen will play a rematch of the Copenhagen Masters final on Day 1 and top-seeded Saina Nehwal will face Super Series Masters winner Wong Mew Choo in what will be only their second ever meeting on neutral soil.  Women’s singles action should be intense even on qualifying day, however, as Asian Champion Li Xuerui starts then against Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Maria Kristin Yulianti.

Koo/Tan of Malaysia have, in their quarter, all three of Korea’s men’s doubles pairs (minus marquee pair Jung/Lee, who will stay home along with Park Sung Hwan).  Denmark’s two men’s doubles pairs will possibly face defending champions on Day 2 but the field is so strong that upsets are a near certainty.

Korea is sending most its Uber Cup team, including the undefeated women’s doubles pairing of Lee Hyo Jung /Kim Min Jung but new pairing Ha Jung Eun / Jung Kyung Eun may find themselves up against the interesting international scratch pairing of Vita Marissa of Indonesia and Thailand’s Saralee Thoungthongkam.  Lee Hyo Jung will also be partnering Swiss Open runner-up Shin Baek Cheol in the mixed doubles for a dangerous unseeded partnership.

Singapore Open draws are available for download from the BWF website HERE

Badzine International will be on site all week to bring you all the action from Singapore Indoor Stadium, complete with live photos from BadmintonPhoto.
