Second seed Pi Hongyan will be out to get her revenge from former compatriot Zhu Lin in the quarter-finals of the ongoing in Los Angeles. The Chinese-born French shuttler was beaten by Zhu Lin last week in Vancouver, Canada by Zhu, who is making a comeback into the international circuit and who narrowly avoided having to play qualifying rounds this week.

After the withdrawal of Tine Rasmussen from the tournament, this quarter-final looks like a final before time and could see the future U.S. Open champion emerge.

The men’s event saw some upsets with high motivation after Taufik Hidayat withdrew from the tournament  and second seed Palyama was beaten as early as the second round – France’s Leverdez beat better ranked Carl Baxter from England, and the quarter-finals see two unseeded Japanese players looking for career highs.
