After the Euphoria of the Gold medals given out in the team competition, it was back to quietness in the Tian He stadium – unless China played – for the Individual event which kicked off on Tuesday. If the big guns had a day of rest, some tough matches already occured on the three courts used out of four with ups (little) and downs (more) for Indonesian shuttlers.

A day of mixed feelings for the RI Shuttlers, with a sweet revenge for Adriyanti Firdasari who beat Salakjit Ponsana in three games after her loss in the team semi-final. But Maria Febe on her end fell to young Taipei girl Pai Hsiao Ma. And even worse for the Indonesians, the double losses of their women’s doubles, Polii/Jauhari and Maheswari/Irawati – the latter had less chances against China’s Wang and Yu than their compatriots who lost to Hsieh and Wang.
