The biggest surprise of the Senior Championships held this weekend in Rohtak, India, was the ousting of Chetan Anand by Saurabh Verma of Madhya Pradesh in the quarter-finals.

The men’s singles final will see Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Kashyap Parupalli take on former champion Arvind Bhat in an all-Petroleum final. Kashyap got the better of junior national champion Sai Praneeth 18-21, 21-14, 21-19 while Bhat overcame the challenge of Saurabh Verma of Madhya Pradesh 21-15, 13-21, 21-9.

In the absence of Diju and Gutta, the mixed doubles will see a new name rising with Vishnu/Balan taking on Chopra/Sawant.
