As the walk-overs showed one after the other on the tournament software page, it looked like the Chinese team had been globally hit by food poisoning. But after more information from the media officers though the tournament referee, it turned out that it is an individual curse that striked.

Oddly, two Chinese shuttlers suffered from injuries that prevented them to play against their compatriots. Liu Xin was out with a fungal toe injury, while Li Xuerui will be staying on the bench for a lower back injury. Luckily for China, their better compatriots Wang Shixian and Wang Xin did not suffer from any injury and should be able to represent China in the next rounds.
