The legendary Hadi Hasri – who led Alan Budi Kusuma and Susi Susanti to the top of the world in their hay days – has taken the position as chief of the development program of the Indonesian Badminton Federation PBSI.
“I’m ready. This will be a great challenge for me, but I love challenges,” Hadi said on Wednesday to the Jakarta Globe. The 61-year-old is aware of the challenges ahead: “Basically we’ve been depending on the same shuttlers for years. With a limited number of talented shuttlers right now, we really have to work hard to revamp the camp and the talent pool.”
One of his priorities will be to use more sports science in order to develop the athletes’ performances. Indonesia has always managed to get at least one gold medal at every Olympic Games; Hadi has 17 months to stay in line with the tradition.
