Lee Chong Wei announced yesterday he would participate in a fund-raising campaign called “Hope and smile” for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The world number one said he had been choked by the images he saw during his All England journey and will participate in two exhibition matches in Malaysia on April 2nd and 3rd to collect funds for the Japanese Red Cross. He will also auction his winning shirt and racket and shoes from the Yonex All England.

Solibad – Badminton without Borders are also working on an event to collect funds for Japan, through different channels. The foundation has already collected the words of condolences from international players to send it to the Japanese Association.
