Good news for the badminton fans living in the city-state of Singapore: Lin Dan will be back in their home country to play in the upcoming Li-Ning from June 14th – 19th in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Olympic Champion had skipped the last three years’ events and 2011 will mark his return, in his quest for another Olympic gold medal – the event is the first Super Series within the qualifying period for the 2012 London Games.

Lin Dan will not be alone to make it to the well-organized annual event: most of his team-mates from China will travel to Singapore to try to gain precious points. Last year, most had skipped the tournament which clashed with the first edition of their new league. Chen Jin, Chen Long, Bao Chunlai, Du Pengyu will represent China in the men’s singles, which proves to be lethal, with other names added such as Taufik Hidayat and Peter Gade.

In the women’s singles, the four Wangs will be out to shine (Xin, Lin, Yihan and Shixian, with Lu Lan as a guest star), which should leave little room for the podium spots. This year’s event should indeed be very exciting with crucial points to take.
