Lydia Cheah beat her sister Sonia in the final of the Kedah Open Badminton Championships 2011 in Alor Setar this week end. The elder played more consistently to edge out her little sister  who was just back from the Asian Junior Championships. Lydia won 21-15, 21-16

She said to me before the game “I want to beat you. But I’m the one who got lucky” laughed Lydia in an online interview with Badzine. The Malaysian who had been out for injury seems to be slowly making her way back. “I can’t say that everything is all right, but I can still go on court and play” added the Malaysian.

In the same event, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong had parted and Tan partnered Hoon Tien How for a final win over Koo and Abdul Latif, who conceded a walkever in the final. Mohd Arif Abdul Latif won the men’s single by the closest margin, beating Chan Kwong Beng 25-23 in the decider
