During the Yonex World Championships, the Badminton World Federation () made a strong statement about match fixing issues and walk overs between compatriots. “The matter will be treated with the utmost gravity by the BWF and severe penalties will be imposed,” BWF COO Thomas Lund said to local media about matches which have been proven to have not been played in a fair play spirit. Such matches will be looked over by a panel of experts which will be able to watch the match again on video. Also, a local doctor will be appointed to double check on players’ injuries, to prevent suspicion.
