Apart from the Yonex Belgium International 2011 and the Li-Ning China Masters, a third BWF rated tournament is happening in a third continent – in Guatemala. Kevin Cordon, hero of the recent BWF Yonex World Championships was ousted in the semi-final of the Guatemala by Russia’s Vladimir Ivanov 21-18, 21-15, which gives an all-Russian affair for the finals as he will meet his compatriot Ivan Sozonov on Sunday.

Another top seed fell in Guatemala City, as Susan Egelstaff bit the dust to the woman in form, Michelle Li. The cute Canadian beat the Scottish 23-21, 16-21, 21-8 to secure a spot in the final where she will be meeting Jeanine Cicognini of Swizerland.
