Seeded 3rd of the women’s singles event, Linda Zetchiri faced an unknown face in the final – Turkish Neslihan Yigit which she beat 21-18, 21-14. “My back is sore, my legs are aching , I am really tired and won Bulgarian International. I’m feeling great” she said on her Facebook wall just minutes after her success. Her real performance was in the quarter final when she beat top seed Carolina Marin from Spain.

Zetchiri’s win comes in at a good time – it’s her first success in 2011 but also for a long time in the International stage. She had performed well in her 2010 home event but had lost to Chloe Magee in the semi final then. And in the final in 2009 when she had to retire against Petya Nedelcheva.

In the men’s singles, Poland’s Wacha is back in form as well and scooped the Gold medal against Malaysia’s Tan in a battle of “11” – 21-11, 11-21, 21-11 for the Polish shuttler. England’s Agathangelou and Olver won the women’s doubles, Liang and Liao of Taipei the men’s doubles while the mixed went to Ukraine’s Atrashchenkov/Kobceva
