On the sidelines of his Hong Kong Open campaign, Malaysian star Lee Chong Wei announced to the local press that he was to go on for another year after the Olympics, going for the World Championship title in 2013.

The world number one had tasted it this summer when he was only one point away from making history, but Lin Dan eventually deprived the Malaysian of the gold medal. This is good news for all his fans back home, who had been hoping that the London Olympics wouldn’t be his last show, with yet no one close to his standard in the Malaysian back-up squad.

Chong Wei also hinted that he was already thinking of his post career. He mentioned that he hoped the Malaysian government would lend him land in order to build a badminton academy of his own, something like the one launched by Taufik in Indonesia.

The in 2013 will be held either in Guangzhou, China – a club he’s played for in the China league – in Copenhagen, Denmark, or in Macau.
